The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently announced that it is suing two of the major airlines yesterday, stating that the companies in question have created an “alliance” that allowed them to raise prices and create less choices for air passengers traveling to and from locations in certain regions of the United States, specifically the Northeast. The two airlines in question, JetBlue and American Airlines, had created the “Northeast Alliance” that operates out of four major airports in Northeastern United States just last year.

“The department cannot allow American Airlines to further consolidate the airline industry where competition is already in…

Journalism is far from dead. Recently the Wall Street Journal started a deep dive into Facebook’s internal research and company documents on policy to uncover how the company really runs its platforms. We’ve done you the favor of wading through everything they uncovered and extracting the largest discoveries of the investigation, but first, let’s begin with a short monologue to add some historical context about how this war over the human mind began.

At the dawn of the post-World War II nuclear age, there was little to no break leading to the genesis of the cold war. The Soviet Union…

Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the now-defunct blood-testing startup Theranos, is set to go on trial today in a federal court, where prosecutors are set to reveal the evidence for fraud charges against the former rising star.

The defendant is facing charges of fraud for allegedly making false claims about her business, mainly that the company’s devices which are designed to take a drop of blood from a finger prick have the capability to run a range of tests more efficiently, effectively, and faster and then other, more conventional laboratory tests. …

The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation into electric delivery-truck maker Ohio-based Workhorse Group, a company that was an early investor in plagued EV startup Lordstown Motors.

The SEC disclosed in a letter denying a public-records request that its enforcement division has been probing Workhorse. The SEC did however indicate that the investigation is ongoing.

“We have confirmed with the Division of Enforcement staff that the investigation from which you seek records is still active and ongoing,” the letter, dated June 30, said.

The letter however, doesn’t say what the investigation entails or offer any further details. A…

China is exerting more subtle methods to tighten its grip on the country’s growing technology sector. The government has taken an ownership stake of at least 1% in a subsidiary that controls the domestic Chinese social media and information platforms of ByteDance, the Beijing-based company that owns TikTok. The arrangement has also given the Chinese government three seats on the board of ByteDance.

The ownership stake on the surface does not appear to directly affect TikTok — the wildly popular video service that last year surpassed Facebook Messenger as the most downloaded app in the United States. …

Over 40 million potential and current T-Mobile customers had their personal information leaked to hackers, the wireless giant reported after disclosing the details on the data breach recently.

The data leaked exposed up to 7.8 million current subscribers, 850,000 prepaid customers and just over 40 million past or potential customers who have gone through the initial stages to apply to T-Mobile, according to T-Mobiles recent statement.

The wireless carrier is also suggesting that all current T-Mobile customers change the PINs on their accounts, although the company stated that it has seen no evidence that those PINs had been compromised in…

Ever hear of bank robbers pulling off a successful heist then subsequently deciding to return the money? Yeah, neither have we. Tuesday “hackers perpetrated what is likely the biggest theft ever in the world of decentralized finance, stealing about $600 million in cryptocurrency from a protocol known as PolyNetwork that lets users swap tokens across multiple blockchains.”

Like most victims of hackings there was not much that PolyNetwork could do except ask the hacker nicely to give the money back. So, they did. PolyNetwork tweeted a picture of a letter addressed “Dear Hacker.”

“I really believe this is going to be the most meaningful Olympics of our lifetime,” an NBC Olympics executive producer stated during a conference call leading up to the renowned Games. “After everything the world has gone through, I do think that people are craving the shared experience. What better way to come together than through the stories of these athletes?”

Most Olympics over the years have attempted to sell a package of hope and global unity, but NBC was also seeking to make these games a symbol of the end of the global pandemic, marking a return to normality…

The Pentagon is reportedly canceling a $10 billion cloud computing contract that had been awarded to Microsoft over Amazon during the Trump administration. The Department of Defense released a statement on Tuesday stating that it is canceling the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure contract that had been awarded a number of years ago to Microsoft. It will instead seek new solicitations for an updated Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability contract from Amazon and Microsoft. …

Hold onto your DeLorean seats because we’re going back in time. The year is 1988 and Wall Street’s entered a new golden age with wild bets being made on such an unprecedented scale — not seen since the eve of the gilded age of the 1920’s. KKR is about to tenure the largest management buyout in history with a market that has an insatiable demand for cheap debt and high yields. In short, it was a time in finance wilder than the O.K. Corral.

In this new wild west, something darker had become the hallmark of the age — greed…
